Jen Appel is the CEO and Publicity Director at The Catalyst Publicity Group, a company specializing in public relations, marketing, social media, and brand consulting.
Since its inception, the company has seen success working with over 400 artists of all genres as Jen crafted a home for emerging artists to take chances, explore who they are as musicians, and develop the right branding/imaging for their style.
Outside of The Catalyst Publicity Group, Jen has taken her expertise from the fields of Public Relations to continue teaching others. She is currently an Associate Graduate Faculty Professor at Florida Atlantic University teaching Music Marketing, PR, and Social Media, in addition to being a Faculty Advisor for the student-run label Hoot/Wisdom Recordings.

Hi! I'm Jen Appel.
+ What's your current job?
I have always been passionate about helping others and watching musicians live out their dream, so I opened The Catalyst Publicity Group in 2012.
Through fine-tuning creative marketing and PR strategies, it is now possible for emerging acts to find success in their careers while watching artists grow into successful musicians. Offering exclusive campaigns with a more hands on approach to expand their brand and offer creativity to projects, I has been fortunate enough to work with well-established acts such as John Schneider, Cartel, Boys Like Girls, and Our Last Night to name a few.

I’ve owned and operated The Catalyst Publicity Group for 6 years and have worked with over 400 musicians and brands.
I have also been a panelist at numerous conferences including Driven Music Conference in Fort Lauderdale & Atlanta (2013, 2014, 2015), Launch Music Conference in Lancaster, PA (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), South by Southwest in Austin, TX (2015, 2016), Music Biz Conference in Nashville, TN (2016), Millersville University Entrepreneurial Leadership Conference in Lancaster, PA (2016), Indiana University in Bloomington, IN (2016), and Independent Music Industry Conference in Los Angeles (2017).
+ What can you share your experience on? What can you help with?
I can help with social media strategy, brand management and consistency, selecting the right voice for social media, publicity strategy, marketing strategy, release timeline, bio re-write, promo photo selection, how to pitch, how to write a press release.
+ What are your greatest achievements?
Teaching at Florida Atlantic University and Johnson & Wales as an adjunct professor - courses range from Music Publicity, Research, Event Management, and Media Literacy. I am also the Faculty Advisor for the Florida Atlantic University’s student-run record label Hoot/Wisdom Recordings
